That all depends on what you need your text for and whether your understanding of the language you are translating into is good enough to spot any errors made by Google or ChatGPT (and there will be errors). Although machine translation and AI models can produce translations exceptionally quickly, they are never error-free and often highly embarrassing. Machines lack creativity and critical thinking abilities. Human translators do not. Imagine you are a lawyer writing a lengthy submission for a court case, and at some point, you mix up the parties. A good translator will spot this. A machine will not. You can also see a human translator as a reviewer of your text, weeding out the last errors before you submit it.

Yes, and that is a service I provide, but estimating how much time will be needed is difficult. You could end up paying more than if you just asked me to translate it in the first place. If you really want to use AI though, I will correct your text for you, but it may not be much cheaper than a proper translation.

AI produces lengthy texts at the click of a button, but they are verbose and often full of rubbish. Is that what you want to project towards your clients? Or would you rather have a beautifully crafted text to convey your message - one you can discuss with the writer and adapt and change along the way? By all means, use AI, but your text will be the same as everyone else’s, and in today’s world, don’t you want to stand out?
